In accordance with Art. 13 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), this statement informs you about which personal data are processed when you visit this website, for what purpose, and what rights you have.

In short: This website does not use any analytics or tracking tools, no advertising, no social media plugins, and does not set any cookies for visitors. All content – texts, pictures, videos and fonts – is delivered from our own server; when you visit the site, no data are transferred to third parties such as Google or Facebook.

2. Hosting

This website is operated on a server of Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. The server is located in a data centre in Germany. Hetzner processes the data exclusively on our behalf and according to our instructions on the basis of a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR).

3. Server logs

Each time a page is accessed, the web server automatically stores the following information transmitted by your browser:

  • IP address of the requesting device
  • date and time of the request
  • requested address (URL) and amount of data transferred
  • status code of the response (e.g. "page found")
  • the previously visited page (referrer), if your browser transmits it
  • browser type, browser version and operating system

We need these data to operate the website securely and reliably, to find errors and to fend off attacks. The legal basis is our legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. The logs are automatically deleted after 14 days at the latest. They are not combined with other data or analysed for advertising or analytics purposes.

4. Cookies and local storage

This website does not set any cookies for visitors and does not store anything on your device.

Only when a member of our editorial team logs in to edit content is a technically necessary cookie ("dyh_sitzung") set. It contains a random identifier so that the login persists, and it expires after 30 days or on logout. The legal basis is § 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG in conjunction with Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. For logged-in editors, we also store the name entered at login together with their changes, so that it is clear who changed what and earlier versions can be restored.

To prevent passwords from being guessed, the server remembers the IP address of failed login attempts for 15 minutes in memory; it is not stored permanently.

5. Contact by e-mail or telephone

If you contact us by e-mail or telephone, we process your details (e.g. name, e-mail address, telephone number, content of the message) in order to answer your enquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR insofar as your enquiry relates to cooperation or support, and otherwise our legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). We delete the details as soon as they are no longer required for processing and no statutory retention obligations apply. The e-mail addresses given on this website are hosted by external e-mail providers; their privacy policies apply to the transmission and storage of messages.

This website has no contact form.

6. Donations

Donations are made by bank transfer. The website itself does not process any data in this connection. The details transmitted with a transfer (e.g. name, bank details, amount, reference) are processed by the banks involved and by us as the recipient in order to handle the donation (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR).

7. Links to other websites

This website contains links to other websites. The respective operators are responsible for their content and for the handling of your data. Merely visiting our pages does not transfer any data to the linked websites.

8. Encryption

The connection to this website is encrypted using TLS (recognisable by "https://" in the address bar). Data you transmit to us therefore cannot be read by third parties.

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to

  • access the data stored about you (Art. 15 GDPR),
  • rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR),
  • erasure (Art. 17 GDPR),
  • restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR),
  • data portability (Art. 20 GDPR) and
  • object to processing based on our legitimate interest (Art. 21 GDPR).

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the EU member state of your habitual residence or place of work (Art. 77 GDPR).
