The construction of the classrooms has progressed a long way, and the dream of DYH becoming a center for people who gain a livelihood through education and learning is becoming tangible reality.
August 2026 - almost finished!
For more than a year now, IT courses have been held in the only classroom available so far. Participants come from the whole surrounding area; quite a few are employees of the ministry or teachers at schools who are very interested in IT training. The first participants already received their certificate of completion last year.
The 2-year deadline set by the supervisory authority NAQQA is coming to an end; our CEO Ebrima Jaiteh has to demonstrate the progress at the center in order to meet the requirements of an educational institution with recognised qualifications.
The construction of the classrooms was completed in August (not something to be taken for granted in Gambia) thanks to a reliable, hard-working building team, generous donors and an unwavering director. Ebrima is very, very happy about the progress the construction has made over the past year.

The next step: windows and doors including the bars. Tiles for all the rooms. Cables for the electricity. Plastering and painting the walls.
This requires money for materials and labour costs. Almost like a miracle, but certainly through trust and generosity, (Winnenden) friends raised several thousand euros, so that in no time all of this construction work could be carried out within 3 weeks. Isn't that a reason to marvel and rejoice?
The container load with the classroom furniture has arrived in Pirang after a lot of effort and expense; the furniture already has a new home. The empty container quickly found a buyer, and the sale provided a budget for windows and doors.

Only a few weeks lie between these pictures, but a lot of work and donated money. Many thanks to all donors.
Soon the rooms will be filled with life: with students who learn valuable things for their lives and mean hope for their country. And we are all part of it. How wonderful.
At the same time, the grounds are continuously used for growing vegetables, so that the sales cover some of the costs.
